I am so glad I am saved and will not resort to writing the words I used to say in ways that were so descriptive and colorful, there was no question as to the meaning I was trying to convey. But, alas, all I do now will only serve to prove there is another way to get my point across. Simply put, Ted Kefalinos, who is the owner of Lafayette French Pastry Bakers, must understand he must close up shop, preferably move out of town, and never bake another racist, sexist, homophobic, anti-anything EVER again. Not in America, not in 2009. How dare he think it is appropriate to be disrespectful to anyone? I question those who were the closeted racists who purchased the despicable cookie. How dare he make a threat against President Obama? I hope the Secret Service investigates him. The bakery is located at 26 Greenwich Avenue,(at Christopher Street). Drop him a note and let him know how offensive his product is to all with good taste. Just STAY OUT of his place of business. His arrogance needs to be met with absolutely no money being spent in his bakery at all, ever again. How dare he!

Still Pinching Myself

Every time I think about last Tuesday, tears well up in my eyes. When I recall the frigid weather that left me feeling warm all over, ( aside from the fact I had on so many clothes I looked like the Michelin Man), when I remember walking for hours and hours, yet, never having sore feet, I realize it was the momentum of the day. The most beautiful sight I saw was a lady, elegant, wearing her "Sunday Going to Meeting Hat", while she sat poised in her wheelchair. She appeared to be about ninety years of age, being rolled by a young man who appeared to be in his thirties and presumably her grandson, from how he was so careful of her well-being. Her eyes spoke to me in ways words never could. I cried when I saw her, because I knew what her eyes had seen. I could only guess what she had to do to be there that day. She was a woman who has lived what I've read about. She more than anyone else I saw that day probably could never have imagined this day 50 or 60 years ago. I was so glad she lived to see Barack Hussein Obama become sworn in as the 44th President of the United States of America. Unfortunately, I was so taken by her presence, I forgot my camera was in my pocket. I would have loved to have had the honor of being photographed with her. I must always keep her face in my mind's eye. She has lived history and I'm sure the history she was part of now is the sweetest taste she will forever savor. God bless Chocolate City and its vanilla suburbs. (**wink, wink P-Funk**)

More INCREDIBLE Day Photos

I wore so many layers of clothes that I never felt any of the cold air. It made me look like the Michelin Man, but I was as warm as all get out!
The conductor on the train ride down, was full of jokes. He wanted my lil Obama Action Figure Man. I let him play with it for a lil while. lol How you like me now, posing with The President? What about all of those magazine covers? I think The Capitol looks spectacular! Look at all of the people from EVERY walk of life. What a beautiful sight.
An INCREDIBLE Day

In the top photo, New York State's First Lady is to the extreme left. In the bottom photo is Congressman John Conyers. In between are shots of inside the Rayburn House, where my friends, family and I watched the swearing in with the New York delegation. Gregory Meeks was supposed to take a picture with me, but he had to go find his daughter in the crowd and we never caught up to each other again. The rest are sights along the way to and after the ceremony. They don't adequately convey the enormity of the crowd.

S O' M and I outside of the polling site at 5:50 AM, and a picture of me inside after I voted for Barack Obama. Tomorrow just can't get here soon enough for me. I'm so excited and I just can't hide it. Everyone says Washington, D.C. is just so full of warm spirit. I don't think I'll sleep tonight, just in anticipation of getting on that train. Don't worry, there'll be lots and lots of pictures.
Ciya! We Baracked the Vote!!!

Less than a day before I was supposed to leave New York to stay with a friend, my host informed me she would be unable to bring me from where she lives in Virginia, to D.C. for THE INAUGURATION because driving would not be allowed past 2 AM on Tuesday morning. I had to cancel my plans to travel down for THE BIG SHOW. HOWEVER, even at this late date,if anyone is leaving Monday, and you have space for an additional traveler, PLEASE email or post a comment so I can get down there. I do have a back-up place to stay once I arrive.
President Barack Hussein Obama...Yes, We DID!!

Fourteen Days

In two short weeks, our country will embark upon a new chapter in its 232 year history. Barack Hussein Obama will be our 44th President. Every time I think about it, a little happy dance goes on inside of me. I treated myself to a couple of Barack Obama action figures. One will stay in the box untouched, but the other one is getting his run. Everyone wants to play with it, hold it, kiss it, talk to it or just look at it. It stays in my pocketbook or pocket and I tell it how proud I am to be alive in this place, at this time. Son O' Mine and I will trek to DC to participate in this special moment in time. We'll experience this together and no one will be able to take away the precious memories. Let me stop, I'm getting all filled up.

It has been a long, long time since I posted here. Busy does not even begin to explain my life of late. However, I have missed being here. I want to wish the world a healthy, happy, prosperous and above all a PEACE FILLED 2009. We need peace to reign now more than ever. I wish us all to be filled with the thoughts of perseverance and not only enduring, but, making it through these hard times in which we are living. Pray without ceasing, and then pray some more. God will be the one who helps us to make it through, and yes, we WILL make it through.
With great anticipation, I am looking forward to January 20th. S O' M (Son O' Mine) and I will be getting on the bus with NAN. I can hardly wait. How will you be a part of this moment in history?
Peace Out
