Long Time Gone

Dedicated to the memory of Sean Bell...Respect... ...VOTE...Fight, Fight the Power, You've GOTTA Fight the Powers That Be!

Wow, not since Monday of last week. So much has transpired since then. Messy Jesse got messier, (whoo, and HOW!!!), let's just say GREEN, (as in with envy), is most assuredly, NOT his color! To those in the know, HowUdoin? Wendy's show debuted last week. I've only seen snippets, so I cannot comment...however, she and Omarosa, well let me just say, I wish it would have only played in the comforts of our Sistah Circle, so that we could APPEAR unified and DIGNIFIED in public. I watched the clip like I was passing by a train wreck. I wish I could have looked away, but morbid curiosity kept me glued and wouldn't let me look away.I know, I know, but I'm only human. Last night's CNN Black in America, that concludes tonight wasn't exactly what I was looking for. Michael Eric Dyson's piece need further exploration before I write, so until tomorrow, I will reserve comment. Hearing Supa Nova Slom on Star and Bucwild, (three visits since being on the the new station 87.9 in New York), reminded me that not all of the morning shows geared towards the younger generations is all hip-hop news. There was a sharing of knowledge and info that was impressive. Check out his website. His mom is Queen Afua and I think The Ankh Man is his father. His holistic lifestyle is a refreshing welcome from the St. Ides mentality. (Do they even still drink that ish?) The every Tuesday Boatride at Pier 81 is on the agenda again for August 5th. Mo, Val and I are a party, but, you are more than welcomed to join us. Speaking of joining... I'm shouting out beege. Where are you? C'mon, you KNOW I wanna hear from you... "...Colored Girls...." Heeellllo, let's do this. You know we've gotta. Gimme a holla. To the rest of you, YES, that WAS very inside. It was meant to be. Not everything is for everybody...lol. I'm thinking of a BBQ in Pelham Bay Park sometime around the middle of August. Hot grills, cold drinks, good music...whaddya think? By the by, Old Timer's Day is quickly approaching. First Sunday, Crotona Park, Indian Lake...I NEVER miss it...who's going? Val and I will be there for sure. I'm even taking my Mama so she can catch up with the crew from the old nabe. It is always so much fun and ridiculously crowded. I wouldn't miss it for the world. Great souvenirs from the day, hats, T-shirts, pictures...reminds me of the old spirit of community pride, citizenship and neighborhood vibes. I really miss those days and kids today have no sense of it...too bad. Well, this is more than enough. I'm surprised there were no comments. Don't wait for me to post. If you have something to say, be my guest, this is OUR forum. Ciao, I'm out
