Lessons For Life

Dedicated to the memory of Sean Bell and Michael Donald...Respect... ...VOTE...Fight, Fight the Power, You've GOTTA Fight the Powers That Be! (Thanks, Isley Brothers and Public Enemy)

Happy Black History Month! Question of the Day: What was the "Strange Fruit," Billie Holiday sang about?

It is true, if it doesn't kill you, it will serve to make you stronger. If you take it out, put it back where you got it. If you broke it, fix it or replace it. Tell the truth, even if it seems horrible; it is never as bad as we think it is. If you offend, make amends. Take a bath or shower everyday, and don't forget to wash behind your ears. (That's for the guy I used to work with, YES, you REALLY must bathe daily!) and lastly and most importantly, remember, love makes the world go 'round, so share some today.

The "Strange Fruit" to which Billie Holiday referred was human beings strung up and hanged from trees.
